Background

Eric Wamumbi is the Member of Parliament for Mathira Constituency, the home constituency for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Eric Wamumbi is a former Member of County Assembly for Konyu ward and was seeking his reelection when Rigathi Gachagua was picked as the running mate to President William Ruto. Wamumbi was lucky to be nominated as the candidate for Mathira Constituency Member of Parliament by the United Democratic Alliance Party replacing DP Rigathi Gachagua.

Eric Wamumbi Family Life

The first time Member of Parliament for Mathira Constituency is a family man and was recently engaged to Murang’a County Women Representative, Betty Maina. The two have been exchanging romantic messages on their social media platforms.

He came to the limelight sometimes back after his first wife untimely death. The late first wife body was found floating on a dam and her burial was surrounded by lots of controversies following allegations that the then regime wanted to interfere with the burial process by sending police officers to contain political speeches.

His late first wife left behind two children who he has been raising alone until his engagement with Betty N Maina who also has two children from her previous marriage. Recently he shared photos of the last born joining school.

Education, Career and Politics

Eric Mwangi Wamumbi was born and raised in Konyu Mathira Constituency. He joined Ndimaini Primary School in 1997 until 2003 when he sat for Kenya Certification of Primary Education. After completing his basic education, he joined Dedan Kimathi Secondary School in 2004 and sat for his Kenya Certification of Secondary Education in the year 2007. He however repeated the next year at Kahuho High School and sat for KCSE once again in 2008.

In 2009, he joined Kenyatta University to study Bachelor of Commerce and graduated in 2013.

Before being elected as the Member of Parliament for Mathira Constituency, he has served as the managing director at Dan Communications Limited and as a Member of County Assembly for Konyu ward in the Nyeri County Assembly.
