Background

This is Samuel Muchoki alias Samidoh, the famous Kikuyu Benga artist is known for his vocals and guitar grip.

He rose to fame after realizing his first songs which includes Ndiri Mutwe Mwega and Wendo Maguta. Previously he was working in Kamande wa Kioi’s band alongside his brother Karis Magic who is a musician too.

Samidoh’s interest in the music industry pranged in his early days and used to be part of Christian Union Choir while in secondary school.

Though not so much details are in the public limelight about his background, our team has compiled an exclusive Samidoh biography.

Early Life

Samuel Muchoki was born in 1990 and as of the time of publishing this article, he aged 33 years. He was born in Subukia, Nakuru County but after the death of his father in 1993, they were kicked from their father’s land by his uncles.

They relocated to Oljororok, Nyandarua County where they up with his five other siblings. After relocating, he joined Oljororok Primary School where he studied up to class seven before dropping out to take care of livestock and supplement his mother’s income.

Years later, he joined Kieni Primary School where he sat for his Kenya Certification of Primary Education before joining Kieni Secondary School.

While in form one, Samidoh was forced to transfer to Oljororok Secondary School which was near their home in order to take care of his ailing mother. Unfortunately, his mother died two weeks after joining Oljororok Secondary School.

At one time, Samidoh, told the media that he had no hopes of joining High School after completing his primary school education. The benga musician also revealed that he had received an admission letter to Jomo Kenyatta High School but he had no courage to open it.

Samidoh’s Professional and Music Career

After his mother demise, he continued with his education and upon completion of his studies, he joined National Youth Service but was dismissed from Gilgil NYS camp after sneaking out to attend Administration Police recruitment.

Following from the dismissal from National Youth Service, he embarked on doing menial jobs in flower farms to raise money for his tertiary studies.

He later joined The Technical University of Kenya, formerly Kenya Polytechnic, to pursue a diploma in Business Information Technology.

It is during his studies at the Technical University of Kenya that he joined Kamande wa Kioi band as a backup vocalist. A couple of years later, he left his band to kickstart his music career.

After leaving the band, he released his first song duped Ndiri Mutwe Mwega in 2016 and has since accumulated over 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Other songs that he has released include; Ihoya Ria Samidoh, Kairitu Gakwa, Niwe Ndarathimirwo, Tuhii Twitu, Riari Itheru, Wendo Maguta, Niwathire Naihenya, Wendo Wi Cama, Kanua Njohini and Wendo wa Kiambiriria among many others.

Immediately after completing his studies at The Technical University of Kenya, he took his papers to the District Commissioner to beg for a job and the DC asked him if he could run. The DC told him to show up for the police recruitment and after the running exercise, he emerged position two and he was lucky to join the police force.

As usual, he joined the police college and after completing the mandatory training, he was dispatched to serve in Eastleigh Area for 15 months. He was later transferred to Mpeketoni in Lamu and then Daadab in Garissa before being transferred to Athi River.

Samidoh’s Family

Samidoh is married to Edday Nderitu though their marriage is surrounded with controversies after Edday Nderitu immigrated to the United States. This is after Samidoh made public of his private affair with nominated Senator Karen Nyamu.

In total, he has five children; three with Edday Nderitu and two with nominated Senator Karen Nyamu.
