Nine Nigerians narrowly escapes death after Kenyans descended on them mercilessly over suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
Nine foreigners are thanking their god for narrowly escaping the wrath of Makongeni residents who were baying for their blood for being suspected of practicing witchcraft.
The Nigerians were supposedly practicing prayers in Kangokii, Makongeni area in Thika when locals suspected them of practicing witchcraft and descended on them.
The nine foreigners allegedly received a thorough beating from the mob. They were however lucky to be saved from the angry mob by police officers who were patrolling the area.
Were it not for the police officers on patrol. Locals were mobilizing their fellow villagers to join and help them in lynching the foreigners suspected of practicing witchcraft.
Before the police rescue, the Nigerians had already sustained serious injuries.
After the rescue they refuted the claims by the villagers that they were practicing witchcraft. They told the police that they were just doing their normal prayers contrary to the allegations.
The incident came just a few days after residents of Muranga lynched two elderly woman aged 75 and 85 for allegations of practicing witchcraft.
The two were attacked at night, stripped naked and dragged out of their houses and lynched by the angry mob.
Responding to the incident, CS Kithure Kindiki of Ministry of Interior and National Administration ordered a crackdown on those who lynched the two elderly women.
