Mary Njoroge Wamaua Waithira is the current member of parliament for Maragua constituency having been elected in 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket and in 2022 on a United Democratic Alliance Party ticket.
Wamaua as many fondly call her also served as a Member of the County Assembly of Murang’a between 2013 and 2017 before she contested for the Maragua Constituency parliamentary seat.
Early Life and Education
Mary Njoroge Wamaua was born and raised in Murang’a county. She attended Kamahuja Girls High School between 1986 and 1989 where she sat for her O Levels exam. After O levels, she joined Kangari Teachers Training College where she studied P1 education.
Years later she joined Kenya Institute of Building and Highway Technology to pursue a Diploma in Civil works and Road building between 2008 and 2009.
In 2013, she yet again joined Gretsa University after being elected as a Member of County Assembly of Murang’a to pursue a diploma in Society works and community development. After completing her Diploma in 2014, she enrolled for a Bachelor of Arts Community Development Course and graduated in 2016.
Mary Njoroge Wamaua Career and Politics
Mary Njoroge Wamaua began her career in the early 90s as an assistant teacher with the Teacher Service Commission after completing P1 training at Kangari Teachers Training College. In 1996, she was promoted to the position of Deputy Head teacher.
In 2008, she resigned and started her own construction company where she was the director until 2013 when she vied forv a Member of County Assembly position and served as an MCA until 2017.
In 2017, Wamaua vied for the Maragua parliamentary seat successful through a Jubilee Party ticket. While in the National Assembly, she served in Public Investment and National Government Constituencies Development Fund parliamentary committees.
In the run up to the 2022 general elections, she ditched Jubilee Party for United Democratic Alliance Party as she sought a reelection.
She also campaigned vigorously for the President and the Kenya Kwanza regime in Murang’a County and Mt Kenya region at a large.
