Background
George Macharia Kariuki alias GK Kariuki is the Member of Parliament for the Ndia Constituency in Kirinyaga County. He is serving as the Member of Parliament for the Constituency for a second term having been reelected on United Democratic Party of President William Ruto. During his first time, he was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket. The party was then under retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.
In 2017, he ousted the then incumbent Engineer Stephen Ngare during party primaries. Stephen Ngare had been elected on the National Alliance Party ticket in 2013.
GK Early Life and Education
Mr George Macharia Kariuki alias GK was born and raised in Ndia Constituency, Kirinyaga County. After studying in an unnamed primary school, he joined the precious Kianyaga High School in 1990 and completed his studies at the institution in 1993.
He later joined Egerton University in 1995 for studies in counselling and psychology. In 1999, he graduated with a Bachelor of Counselling and Psychology from the University.
GK also holds a certificate of proficiency from the College of Insurance which he attained in 2008 and a Higher Diploma in Psychology Counselling which he received from the Kenya Methodist University in 2009.
Career and Politics
The now Member of Parliament career journey started in the early 2000s after completing his studies at the Egerton University. His first employment was at Christian Church International as a coordinator. He later left the organization in 2002 and started his own business named Computer Bazaar which was dealing with computer hardware and software.
In 2007, he was employed by the Britam Insurance Company as Financial Advisor and as a Sales agent. A position he held until mid-2013 when he transitioned to Green Dairy as the Director. He held the position of Green Dairy Director for two years.
In July 2015, he transitioned to Aberdare Spa and Safari Lodge as the managing director and position he holds to date.
Two years later after becoming the managing director of Aberdare and Safari Lodge, he tried his luck in politics and was elected as the Member of Parliament for Ndia Constituency.
In the 12th Parliament, he served as the Vice Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Communications, Information and innovation.
