Why appointee for the position of the Managing Director of Kenya Pipeline Corporation, Joe Sang, has been suspended by the Employment and Labour Relations court.
Joe Sang, the appointee to the Kenya Pipeline Corporation as the Managing Director has suffered a huge blow following his suspension by the Employment and Labour Relations Court.
The suspension comes a few days after the Kenya Pipeline Corporation board appointed him as the substantive Managing Director.
Joe sang appointment came after office of the director of public prosecution dropped corruption charges that he had been charged with a couple of years ago leading to his firing from the corporation.
The Employment and Labour Relations Court suspended Sang after the former managing director, Mr Samson Macharia Irungu, challenged his ouster.
During Joe Sang appointment, the corporation’s board alleged that Mr Samson Macharia Irungu was not interested in continuing with his position as the managing director of the corporation for a second tenure after the first one came to an end.
Irungu moved to court seeking termination of Sang’s appointment over his alleged unlawful dismissal.
The Employment and Labour Relations Court issued conservatory orders suspending the appointment of Joe Sang as the Managing Director of the parastatal.
The court also ruled that the corporation’s board is at liberty of appointing an acting managing director pending hearing and determination of the case. The acting managing director must however be selected from Kenya Pipeline employees who hold the requisite qualifications.
