Victoria Rubadiri is a celebrated Kenyan journalist whom many young journalists and media practitioners look up to as their role models.
Despite giving birth at the age of 18 while in high school, Rubadiri did not give up on her dreams. At one time while on air, she narrated her story of how she moved to her parents’ home while pregnant and continued with her studies for the sake of her unborn child’s future.
Victoria was born in Kenya in the year 1987, She partly studied in her country of birth before moving to the United States at the age of 10 years alongside her family. While in the United States, she joined Atlantic City High School and later one joined Temple University in Philadelphia to study broadcast journalism.
After completing her studies, the 36-year-old journalist worked as an intern at NBC 40 TV where she was assigned the role of desk editor. A year later in 2008, she secured a role at Angela Crockett Company in Brooklyn as a Personal Assistant.
In 2010, she returned to her birth country with her family and secured a presenter and reporter at Capital FM owned by the late Chris Kirubi in 2011.
She left the Lonrho House-based media company in December 2012 for a news anchor position, script editor, and reporter role at Nation Media Group.
At NTV, she used to anchor Prime Time Weekend Edition news alongside Larry Madowo. She also used to host the Victoria Lounge Show.
In 2018, she joined Citizen TV as a senior reporter. To date, she still works at Citizen TV Kenya though she had taken a break a three-month break in 2020 to travel to London for studies as part of her Komla Dumor award.
On family, Victoria likes to keep her family matters private. However, we know that she has one child which she was blessed with at the age of 18 years.
On ancestry, she has a mixture of African and white roots. Her father is a Malawian while her grandmother has Maasai, Kikuyu, and Seychellois roots. On the other hand, her grandfather has Scottish and Kalenjin roots
