Anthony Wainaina Njoroge alias Chieni is the Member of Parliament for Kieni Constituency having been elected on his first stab in politics. He was elected on United Democratic Alliance Party after trouncing the incumbent Kanini Kega who was defending his seat on a Jubilee Party ticket
Considering the position of the former MP Kanini Kega in the National Assembly and proximity to power, Anthony Wainaina Njoroge faced stiff competition but fortunately he emerged the winner of the Kieni Parliamentary seat.
Wainaina alias Chieni was born and raised in Kieni, Nyeri County. He attended his primary education at Kamburaini Primary School between 1968 and 1974. In 1975, he joined Kenyatta High School for EACE certification for a period of three years.

In his life, the Kieni Member of Parliament has been employed only once as a clerical officer by the public service commission between 1979 and 1987. From then, he has spent his entire life running his personal businesses until recently when he was elected as the member of parliament.
Anthony Wainaina Njoroge now represents Kieni Constituency in the National Assembly. At the National Assembly, he is a member of the standing committee on Lands and Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library sessional committee.
Kieni is one of the largest constituencies in Nyeri County and it is expected to be divided into two during the coming boundaries review.
