Meet Nancy Karanja alias Shiks Kapienga, a multitalented media personality who wears the hats of an actor, comedian and TV/Radio Host. She is mostly known for her Ghetto personality which many people tend to associate with.
The 36-year-old media personality rose to fame while acting Beba Beba TV Show where she was featured as Tasha and Shuga where she played the role of Baby.
Shiks Kapienga is a third born in a family of three girls and one boy, she was born in April 1987 within Kangemi area.
She attended her early education at Westlands Primary School but later transferred to Good Samaritan Primary School in Nakuru County.
As if that was not enough, she was transferred back to Westland Primary School where she sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and joined Mirithu Girls’ Secondary School.
After studying at Mirithu Girls’ Secondary School for a while, she was transferred to Kangaru Girls where she sat for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education and she recently graduated from Daystar University with a degree in communication studies.
During an interview with local content creators, Shiks Kapienga revealed that Radio Host Mbusi coined the name Shiks Kapienga for her with the name Shiks being a short form of her name Wanjiku and Kapienga being the sheng name for something small.
Since she made her debut in the media sector, she has been featured in many movies and TV Shows including Country Queen, Kiza, Kasiri, Uradi, Nairobi Half-Life, What’s on Your Mind and Battle of the Souls.
In Nairobi Half-Life, she was featured as a commercial sex worker and in Shuga she assumed the role of Baby, a young girl who was assaulted by a close family member. Her family was uncomfortable in her taking over these two roles but she was determined to make her debut in the media sector.
Details about her family remain scanty. However, she has on many occasions revealed that she is single despite rumours of her dating prominent media personalities.
