This is pastor Ezekiel Odero, the founder of New Life Church which is based in Mavueni, Kilifi County. Pastor Ezekiel Odero is married to Sarah Odero and the two have three children, two biological and one adopted.
Ezekiel Odero came to the public limelight after thousands of Christians started trooping to his church in Mavueni for prayers, holy water, and cleansed handkerchiefs.
This Mavueni Church sits on 65 acres of land where Ezekiel Odero and his wife are also constructing a mall, a university, a restaurant, and accommodation houses for his church workers, their families, and people who visit his church from different parts of the country.
Recently he came to the public limelight after he was accused of having links to Paul Mackenzie of Shakaola massacre where hundreds of people were dead in the vast Shakaola forest after being starved to death.
Pastor Odero was arrested and detained for several days, his church was also closed but he was later released and his church opened.
Registrar of Societies also deregistered his church a couple of weeks ago but moved to court and obtained Stay Orders.
Pastor Ezekiel Odero Early Life.
Odero was born in Rusinga Island, Homabay County. In his childhood, he used to do fishing at night to supplement his mother’s earnings. This hugely impacted his primary school education. After sitting for his CPE, he scored 210 marks. His grandfather moved with him to Seme where he once again performed extremely well.
He joined Miwani High School in Chemilil Kisumu before moving to Mombasa for his tertiary education at The Technical University of Mombasa.
After his second year, he dropped out due to financial constraints and started doing masonry work in the coastal county.
Pastor Ezekiel Career
It is then that he came across Sarah Odero and sought her hand in marriage. His family was first reluctant to accept Sarah Odero as their daughter-in-law since she was a primary school dropout with time they accepted her.
While in Mombasa, he joined Pastor Pius Muiru’s church where he used to play keyboard and coach the praise and worship team. Pastor Pius Muiru nurtured and for this reason, he considers him as his spiritual father.
With time, he opened his church alongside his wife at Shanzu Mombasa where they ministered for a couple of years before relocating to Mavueni in Kilifi.
Since then, he has built his Christianity portfolio, and thousands of Kenyans have been trooping at his church for prayers. He also recently held a crusade at Kasarani Stadium that attracted over 50,000 Kenyans and was graced by the Second Lady, Dorcas Rigathi.
He recently opened a branch in Kisii which is under the leadership of his biological brother and also procured a piece of land in Kajiado for the expansion of New Life Church.
