United States of America Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whiteman, has weighed on the recent attack on journalists covering the Azimio One Kenya protests on Thursday.
The Ambassador who wrote on her official twitter account said that the United states is concerned by the attacks on Journalists. She further ackmowledged the need tp protect press freedom in order to protect democracy.
Ambassador Meg Whiteman remarks came a few hours after a viral video of a plain clothed police officer attacking journalists emerged on social media platforms.
The plain clothed police officer was seen vandalizing Azimio La Umoja car which was carrying journalists from leading media outlets in the Country.
In the video, the unnamed police officer was spotted propelling teargas through the unopened windows. Due to the force of the propelled teargas can, one of Nation Media Group Journalist was badly injured on the face and is recuperating in an unnamed hospital.
