This is Waithaka wa Jane alias Karaiku Master, a form three dropout making a kill in the entertainment industry.

Born in 1998 in a family of eight, Waithaka wa Jane has transitioned from playing drum sets and guitar to being a renowned musician and performing artist.

He started his career in 2016 after coming to Nairobi where his elder brother accommodated him and used to play drum sets and guitar for veteran musician Pato wa Gathoni. While working for Pato wa Gathoni, it was when Waithaka wa Jane honed his skills in playing guitar.

In 2020, he went all out as a solo artist. However, his career suffered a setback after the pandemic hit the economy hard. Committed to pushing his brand, he continued working hard to push his brand despite the pandemic.

He would take low pay to perform and make very little or no demands to perform live on air on radio stations during the pandemic.

It is through his performance at Coro FM while being hosted by Joy wa Macharia and at Inooro FM while being hosted by Nyoks wa Katta that his music star shined.

Since then he has released several hit songs namely Wangeci Mwana Ni Eee Kumosa, Niki Waheire, Wandigiire Mwana Ukihika, and Mwenda Ng’endo. He has also done several cover songs such as Karaiku.

Recently, he got himself into trouble with renowned old-school singer JB Maina after he allegedly sang the veteran songs without his permission. Threatened with a possible lawsuit, Waithaka wa Jane approached JB Maina and they settled the issue out of court.

On family, Waithaka wa Jane has managed to keep his family matters private and not so many details are in the public domain. However, he recently mourned the death of his son through his Facebook page.

  1. I’m not sure why but this weblog is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
