Woman who died in Nairobi CBD while walking home was shot by an assassin.

An NHIF employee who died while waking home was shot dead, post mortem has revealed.

Police in Nairobi are investigative a murder case that happened in the Central Business District of a 46 years old woman who was an employee of National Health Insurance Fund.

The woman is said to have collapsed and died as she walked with her colleagues along Kaunda Street in Nairobi.

According to witnesses, Lilian Waithera was walking and she started complaining of chest pains at around 5PM on Monday and then collapsed after a few minutes.

The people that she was with, made a distress call to ambulance providers but she was declared dead by the responders upon arrival.

Her body was taken to Nairobi Hospital Mortuary after the incident but on Tuesday, her family transferred the body to Kenyatta University Mortuary where an autopsy carried out by Dr Kamonde revealed that Liliam Waithera died of a gunshot.

Dr Kamonde found a bullet lounged in the deceased lungs. According to the autopsy report, the bullet penetrated through the collar bone to her lung. The bullet has now been handed over to police for ballistic investigations.

It is however unclear how no one noticed that Lilian Waithera had been shot.

Nairobi Police Commander Adamson Bungei has promised to go to the root of the matter and apprehend those responsible for the murder of Lilian Waithera.
