John Kaguchia is the current Member of Parliament for Mukurweini constituency after his successful election bid in the 2022 general election. In the general election, he managed to trounce the incumbent Anthony Kiai who was defending his seat of a TSP Party ticket though having been elected in 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Mr John Kaguchia was born and raised in Nyeri County before coming to Nairobi to advance his studies. As of the time of publishing this article, he has two bachelor degrees, one master’s degree and one post graduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
John Kaguchia Education
The now Member of Parliament for Mukurweini Constituency joined Kenyatta University in the year 2003 to study Bachelor of Commerce. He was awarded the power to read and practice what pertains to his degree four years later in 2007. Three years later, he joined Nairobi University for a master’s degree in Diplomacy, a degree that he completed in two years’ time.
In 2013, he enrolled for yet another degree course at the University of Nairobi. This time round he wanted to pursue law degree. He completed the law degree in four years’ time and joined the Kenya School of Law in 2018 for him to be admitted as an advocate of the High Court.
Career and Politics
Previously, John Kaguchia has worked for Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company and County Assembly of Nyeri. After leaving Kenyatta University, he secured a slot as the Customer Care Coordinator for the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, a position he held from 2008 to 2017. Immediately after the 2017 general election, he was nominated as the Speaker of the County Assembly of Nyeri, a position he held until 2022 prior to the general election that saw him elected as the member of parliament for Mukurweini Constituency.
The now Member of Parliament for Mukurweini Constituency is a member of Departmental committee of Finance and National Planning which is chaired by Molo MP, Kuria Kimani.
