GSU rescue two foreigners from Alshabab.
Police in Lamu county rescued two foreigners who were in the hands of Alshabab militants along the Garsen Witu road.
The two foreigners were in the company of two other Kenyans who had been held captive by the terrorists who had established an illegal road block along the busy road.
According to reports by Citizen Digital, about ten terrorists in military attire set the road block along Garsen Witu highway in Lamu and were questioning motorists who were using the road early in the morning before GSU officers arrived at the spot.
The alshabab militants however, killed two people on the spot before police officers arrived and repulsed them.
Following the arrival of GSU officers who were in patrol of the terror prone Lamu Garsen Road, a shootout between them and the GSU and the militants ensued. Luckily they were overpowered and they sought hideout in Boni forest.
Police officers are now pursuing the terrorists in their hideout as the deceased were taken to Mpeketoni Hospital Funeral Home.
The Lamu Garsen Witu road has been at the centre of terror attacks and even upgrading of the road to Bitumen took quite some time due to terror threats.
The road cuts through the Boni Forest which was one of the Alshabab hideouts till when a multiagency team of security officers was established to flush out the terrorists from their forest.
