Mt Kenya has been known for long to be always a united block ahead of any general election after they tasted the atrocities perpetrated on them during the Moi error by a group which was commonly known as YK92, Youths for KANU.
In 20002, Mt Kenya voting block rejected son of the former President, Uhuru Kenyatta for suspecting he was a project of the late Daniel Arap Moi. In 2013, Mt Kenya region was to vote for the then vice President Kalonzo Musyoka but with candidature of Uhuru Kenyatta, they resolved to go with the latter.
This begs the question whether the rift in Mt Kenya is real, fictional, intentional or a decoy.
The question of whether the East of West route also very vital after coronation of Speaker Justin Muturi as the spokesperson of the region.
With opinion sharpers having all sorts of controversy theories on unity and rifts in the region, the fact that Mt Kenya will be one thing in 2022 is something that cannot be disputed but can be debated.
This can be concluded from the coronation of Speaker Justin Muturi which has created unity in Mt Kenya East dissolving Kieleweke and Tangatanga factions. Cecily Mbarire and Mithinka Linturi were last weekend quoted saying that they are solidly behind Justin Muturi.
The coronation has also evoked the emotions of Mt Kenya West, commonly referred to Central Kenya, leaders. Led by William Kabogo, Dennis Waweru, Kanini Kega, Ann Waiguru and Mwangi wa Iria, the central Kenya leaders have had two meetings championing for unity of the region.
If they succeed in their adventure, the tangatanga and Kieleweke factions in Central Kenya will die a natural death resulting to a pact between Central Kenya and Mt Kenya East before 2022.
