Victim Shot at Point Blank by Police Identified as Boniface Kariuki, Not Joshua Eli

The unfolding events surrounding the recent protests in Nairobi have been marked by confusion over the identity of a key victim involved in the clashes. Earlier reports had mistakenly named Joshua Eli as the individual severely injured and hospitalized. However, new information has now confirmed that the victim is in fact Boniface Kariuki, not Joshua Eli as initially circulated.
Boniface Kariuki, a young man who had been peacefully observing the demonstrations, was reportedly shot at point blank range by police officers during a chaotic moment on Tom Mboya Street.
Eyewitnesses claim that as the crowd was being dispersed, Boniface, who appeared unarmed, was confronted by officers and shot in the head at close range in full view of several bystanders. The horrifying act was captured on video and has since spread widely across social media, fueling public outrage.
Boniface, who sustained life-threatening injuries during the incident, was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital where he has been admitted. He is currently undergoing surgery under a team of neurosurgeons. The update on his condition was provided by the Director General of Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, earlier this evening.
As of now, Boniface’s prognosis remains uncertain. Medical professionals at Kenyatta National Hospital are doing everything possible to stabilize his condition and manage his severe head trauma. The situation remains delicate, and further updates are expected once the surgery is completed.
