Kirinyaga Man commits suicide after finding out that his wife was having a love affair with a 22 years old boy.
A man from Kirinyaga County has shocked many after he was found dangling from the raft of the house. Those privy to the family wrangles told Unreported team that the man had just discovered an affair between his wife and a 22 years old boy who was selling tomatoes in the area.
The area chief confirmed the incident and even revealed that the deceased had visited his office to express concerns about the love affair between his wife and the tomato seller.
The chief, Mr Henry Kariuki, however did not expect the situation to escalate that fast where the victim would end up committing suicide.
The victim had also attacked his wife with a panga on Wednesday this week. She was rushed to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. She was treated and discharged on the same day.
Following the attack, the chief noted that the matter was reported to Wanguru police station. The deceased however committed suicide before recording his statement at the station.
The Sub County Police Commander, Daniel Kitavi, acknowledged that the attack had been reported at Wanguru Police Station and witnesses who are were at the scene had recorded their statements.
Henry Kariuki, the area chief also told members of the press that the victim had agreed to leave his cheating wife and the suicide caught him by surprise.
The brother to the deceased confessed that his brother was really disturbed by his wife cheating with someone younger than their son.
Increased Suicide Cases in Kirinyaga County
The suicide case came at a time when Kirinyaga is battling increased suicide cases in the county especially among men. Between 2021 and 2022, 132 people have been reported to have committed suicide. Out of 132 reported suicide deaths, 106 are from men and only 26 are from women.
