Get to Know Joy wa Macharia, Coro FM Mugithi Show Host

Meet one of the finest Mugithi Mistresses and Radio Presenter/Host, Joy wa Macharia.

Joy wa Macharia first came into the public limelight after she released her first Mugithi Hit Song, Mundurume ni Kieha, four years ago which has accumulated over 2 million views on YouTube. Since then, she has released many other songs which include Cuma Hiu, Waitherero Kia Murang'a, Guborwo, Ndukone ta Ukinyite, Nindaguthiururire, Aciari , and Githuri-ini among many others songs.

Apart from being a Mugithi artist, she is a radio host/presenter at Coro FM which is under the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. At Coro FM, she has earned her place in the media fraternity for hosting Friday night Mugithi show where she hosts Kikuyu Mugithi artists for live on-air entertainment.

On her background, she was born and raised in Iyego, Kangema Constituency and she is a second born in a family of four. She attended G3 Primary School from lower primary to class seven where she was transferred to Nyakahura Primary School.

After completing her Primary School studies, she joined Gitugi Girls Secondary School but she was later transferred to Nyakahura Secondary School where she sat for her KCSE examination before joining Kenya Institute of Media Studies for her studies in mass communication.

Upon completing her studies, she worked at Radio Maisha as a volunteer for some time before she secured an internship at Coro FM where she worked for free even after her internship period ended.

She was however lucky to get employed by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, owned radio station after some time.

On her family, Joy wa Macharia likes to keep her family matters private though we can tell that she married and very little is known about her husband.
