Jeff Mwathi case has taken another twist as Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss, Amin visits the alleged scene of crime.
DCI Director, alongside with detectives from the DCI homicide and forensic departments earlier today visited the scene of crime where Jeff Mwathi allegedly fell from the 10th floor.
The intention of the visit was to reconstruct the scene of crime to clearly understand what really happened at Redwood apartments the day Jeff body was found lying on the ground floor lifeless.
The visit to the apartment came at a time when detectives from DCI have already been given orders for Jeff’s body exhumation which is expected to happen this Friday. The exhumed Jeff Mwathi body will be subjected to both toxicological and DNA analysis to answer gaps identified during the reconstruction process.
“In the reconstruction, the DCI Headquarters Homicide team and Crime Scene Personnel from the DCI National Forensic Laboratory sought to identify gaps that exhumation is expected to provide answers once DNA and Toxicology analyses are concluded,” the DCI statement read.
Detectives from the DCI took over the case following a public outburst on social media platforms that attracted the attention of the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior, Prof Kithure Kindiki. Upon receiving a petition from activist Simon Mwangi Muthiora, the CS instructed DCI to take up the matter and expedite the investigations.
This saw one of the major suspects, DJ Faxto, being taken to Muthaiga police station to record his statement afresh on what transpired on the day Jeff died.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations is however yet to arraign anyone in court.
