Radio 47 set to roar as Radio Maisha of Standard Media Group is at the verge of collapsing following mass resignations from the Mombasa Road based media enterprise.
The Radio station will be basd at Westlands where TV47 headquarters are based with insiders claiming that everything is set including frequencies and equipment set up. TV 47 and Radio 47 are owned by Cape Media company which belongs to Professor Simon Gacharu, the of Mt Kenya University.
As Radio 47 owned be Cape Media prepare to get into airwaves, its owners have stormed Radio Maisha and recruited journalists from the radio station living it as a shell.
Four radio presenters have so far confirmed their departure from Radio Maisha with the recent one being Billy Miya.
Miya announced his departure on Wednesday and confirmed that he will be cohosting his last show together with Mwalimu Mbaruk on Friday. The two have been cohosting the evening drive show for some time now.
On Tuesday, Billy Miya had been angered by Tuko for reporting his speculated departure. Through a facebook post, he accused Tuko of misreporting. He also claimed that he is at work and his has no plans of living the Mombasa Road Radio station.
Other Journalists who have left Radio Maisha is the football commentator and Nuru ya Lugha host Hassan Mwana Ali. The legendary football commentator has also confirmed his next move which is joining Radio 47.
Hassan Mwana Ali Cohost during Nuru ya Lugha show, Geofrey Mong’ou, is also joining Radio 47 as the station head. Geofrey Mong’ou is known for his prowess in news reading. He is also the author of a Swahili novel named Mkakasi.
Lynda Oriaso who formerly was the programme controller at Standard Media Group is also expected to help the new baby in the town with her over 15 years’ experience in broadcast media.
