Elected and non-elected leaders from Western Kenya from various parties have come out to criticize deputy president Rigathi Gachagua over his Mt Kenya centric remarks which they term as tribal remark.
It is rumored that the western Kenya leaders are threatened by Gachagua’s aggressiveness in lobbying for central Kenya people and uniting the region ahead of 2027 polls.
Gachagua had earlier last week warned Nairobi County Governor of sabotaging businesses owned by Mt Kenya people in the city since the people of Mt Kenya voted for him in the just concluded general election.
“We do not want his high speed (in making decisions) and I have summoned him for a sitting…It is a no for any of his decisions that might have negative effect on our people,” Gachagua told Sakaja.
The Deputy President also told Sakaja that he is the one who sat the people of Mt Kenya down to urge them to vote for him and any decision or policy that affect the people of Mt Kenya he must be involved.
“I want Sakaja to note that all decisions that will negatively affect Mt Kenya people in Nairobi must be discussed. I have to be involved. We will not accept anything that troubles our businessmen,” Gachagua warned Sakaja.
Responding to the Deputy President, Sakaja noted that there is no difference between Kikuyus, Luhyas and the Akamba, he said that the only difference that exists in the city is between the rich and the poor.
Sakaja also received support from his Luhya elected and non-elected leaders led by Bumula Mp, Jack Wanami Wamboka and the former presidential candidate George Wajackoyah.
Addressing a press briefing in the city, Bumula Mp Jack Wanami Wamboka told Rigathi that Sakaja was elected by Nairobians and not Kikuyus.
“He is threatening everyone, left right and centre. You saw what he did with the good governor of Nairobi County, Johnson Sakaja… threatening him of how he rallied kikuyus behind his gurbenatorial race. Sakaja was not elected by Kikuyus, he was elected by Kenyans in Nairobi,” Bumula Mp said.
In different press briefing, the former presidential candidate, George Wajackoyah accused Gachagua of being petty and tribal.
“I am warning you Gachagua, your mouth and tongue will bring this country down. You are very petty and very tribal,” Wajackoyah noted.
