BIOGRAPHY OF LINET TOTO CHEPKORIR, BOMET WOMEN REPRESENTATIVE.

EARLY LIFE

Linet Chepkorir, alias Toto was born on 19th of April 1997, Chemomul area, Bomet county, Kenya. She was born to Leonard Lang’at and Betty Lang’at as the first born in a family of three girls.

EDUCATION

She enrolled at Kapsimbiri Elementary school where she pursued her primary certificate and proceeded to join Kapsimbiri Secondary school. She transferred to Siwot secondary school where she sat for her KCSE examination.

She joined Chuka University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in procurement in the year 2021.

POLITICAL LIFE

Linet Chepkorir Toto declared interest for the Bomet county parliamentary seat in 2021. She won the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket after nominations. She banked on well-wishers and friends for her campaigns. She was elected as the Bomet women representative ,2022-2027 during the Kenyan August 2022 general elections, being the youngest law maker in the 13th parliament.

At one point she had been locked out of the Deputy President residence by guards who accused her of looking like a joker and not a mheshimiwa. Her supporters and Kenyans of goodwill however criticized President William Ruto for locking her out despite selling his party as the party of the less privilege in the society.

During the general election, Linet Chepkorir alias Toto garnered over 50,000 voters beating her closest competitor Beatric Chepkorir with over 30,000 votes.

Since her win as the Bomet County Women Representative, Toto has found favor from senior politicians including President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Recently, she was part of a delegation that joined Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to a youth forum in the Republic of Rwanda.
