Twelve people have been confirmed dead following an attack to the Borana Community by the Gabla community.
The two communities have been rivals for quite some time in competition of pasture and water.
The attack started at around 5AM in the morning in the villages of Dogoicha and Laaqi but later spread to Quibiqallio village.
It is said the Borana community retaliated after the attack by the Gabla community in defense and to protect their livestock.
In total, the bandits managed to escape with about 1000 cattle and 300 sheeps and goats.
Police officers are steal in pursuit of the bandits and have promised to bring anyone involved in the attack to book.
Local leaders have also called for peaceful coexistence among communities in the larger North Eastern region.
