Nairobi County governor distances himself from the online spats between a section of Western Kenya leaders and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The Western Kenya leaders came into defence of the governor after the deputy president castigated him for allegedly oppressing Mt Kenya traders in Nairobi County.
Johnson Sakaja was speaking during his visit to Gikomba market after the recent fire inferno that burnt stalls, stocks and left one trader dead.
During the visit, the Nairobi County Governor donated Ksh 2.4 million to traders who were affected by the inferno and Ksh 240 thousands to the family of the deceased.
Sakaja also thanked the Deputy President for donating Ksh 1 million to cushion traders who were affected by the inferno.
“Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is my boss and he has 47 counties to take care off not only Nairobi. The fact that he so it fit to donate Ksh 1 million means he cares about Nairobi,” Sakaja praised Rigathi.
Addressing the Gikomba traders, Sakaja insisted that the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is his boss and he cannot engage him. He urged his followers to ignore the accusations that he told the Deputy President that Nairobi is not Mathira. He however acknowledged existent of internal issues and hinted that they are being handled internally.
“I want to tell my people because I have seen some people engaging on social media, I cannot engage my boss Rigathi Gachagua. Those saying that I told the Deputy President that Nairobi si Mathira are lying and should stop. We have internal issues and we are dealing with them internally,” Sakaja noted
Sakaja urged his supporters to remain calm and avoid being used to catalyze nonexistent fights by people who want to create rift in Kenya Kwanza coalition.
“We as Kenya Kwanza we are united and we are together. If you are my supporter, don’t be used to bring fights which are nonexistent. Mimi nafanya siasa safi,” said Sakaja.
