Unanticipated by many, Raila’s maiden trip to Mt. Kenya has not only set the pace for more former Prime Minister trips in the region but also sent other politicians, including the deputy president, back to square one.
William Ruto, who has for the last four years invested in demonizing Raila Odinga in Mount Kenya, believed in the notion that Raila was unsellable in Mt Kenya, forgetting that the only mistake Raila made in his political journey was vying against Kibaki and Uhuru. The deputy president also forgot that his 2022 fate is not different from that of Raila.
Sources close to the inner circles of the deputy president who sought anonymity while speaking to unreported ke informed us that the Mt. Kenya rallies by Raila Odinga caught Ruto by a surprise, for he did not see it coming.
The Deputy President has been thinking that the hatred that has been there in Mt. Kenya against Raila Odinga will be very substantial in 2022, only for the truth to dwindle on him that the hatred only exists when the region has one of its own as a presidential candidate.
Ruto is not taking chances to ascend to the house on the hill, and he now intends to hold several rallies in Nyeri and Laikipia counties to counter the impact the former prime minister has had for the last three days.
Our correspondent in Laikipia County has already confirmed to us that mobilization is already ongoing in Laikipia ahead of the Dp Ruto’s visit.
In Nyeri County, William Ruto is expected to attend the burial of the Nyeri County Assembly Speaker father. Later, Dp Ruto will hold political rallies in Mukurweini, Othaya, Nyeri town and in Mathira.
The insider source also confirmed to our team that for Laikipia and Nyeri Counties, Ruto intends to have intensive mobilization to prove a point to Raila Odinga and team.
