Mike Sonko, Anne Kananu Meet in an Emotional Burial in Imenti, Meru.

Two former Nairobi County governors, Mike Sonko and Anne Kananu Mwenda met in Imenti, Meru County while attending the burial of a mother of two who died in Saudi Arabia where she has been working for the last ten years.

The late Ms Jackline Muthoni aged 40 left her two children aged 12 and 18 and travelled to Saudi Arabia to look for greener pastures.

She allegedly died while in Saudi Arabia four months ago and she was set to be buried in a mass grave in company of two other Kenyans from Machakos and Kilifi who had also died mysteriously.

One of the local news outlets reported that Jackline Muthoni died on 10th July but her family back in Kenya learnt of her death four months later. Despite learning of their kin’s death, the family was unable to cater for the mortuary and freight expenses.

Former Nairobi County governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, however, intervened and the three bodies were repatriated to the country after paying mortuary fees and freight charges.

“We were informed that Muthoni died in June and her body was about to be buried in a mass grave so we decided to bring her back so that her family could give her a decent send-off”, Mike Sonko.

Rodgers Kipembe, an astute businessman, politician and son of NOPEU Party Leader, Mpuru Amburi, had visited the family before burial day to comfort and console them.

Kipembe volunteered to cater for the education of the 12 years old daughter Jackline Muthoni left after her mysterious death.

The 12-year-old daughter had just completed her grade six assessment exam and she will be joining grade seven next year.
