Public Outcry about Lesedi
Lesedi Developers and the influencers are being accused by the public of conspiring and conning Kenyans their hard earned money in the name of selling plots to investors and developing the said plots.
It started with a section of investors who protested to the company’s headquarters based in Thika claiming that they have not received title deeds for land they had bought through the company.
Others alleged that they had taken bank loans and deposited the money with the company for development purposes but they are yet to see the fruits of their investment.
Kiambu resident, Peter Mwangi, narrated how his friend who resides in the United States deposited money with company for a plot and a house but ended up with nothing.
“A friend, Ken, lost 8M with Lesedi. He took a loan from KCB in 2020. Bought a quarter of an acre at 2M in Ruiru. Gave the company 6M ajengewe nyumba. The company asked for 6 months imalize kazi. Lesedi also asked for a month to process the Titles. Ken went back to USA, akarudi after the 8th month. All along, he was receiving fancy pictures of his would be home every Weekend,” Peter Mwangi narrated how his friend lost 8 million he had taken as a loan from KCB bank.
Mwangi also noted that when his friend went to visit the plot that had been bought on his behalf, he found someone fencing and a confrontation ensued. Days later, it emerged that the company was selling a single plot to numerous people.
“He went to the site. Found someone fencing it. Akamvuruga saaana. Called his lawyer, a surveyor and a police, his former classmate. It emerged that he had been conned. The same plot had been allocated to 3 other people. He was the first buyer. They stormed Lesedi Offices in Thika and Met Kiragu at his office. Kiragu apologized and “fired” both the site manager and marketing manager. Ken breathed a sigh of relief. Kiragu issued more apologies than explanations,” Mwangi added.
Lesedi MD and Influencers Speak
Following the exposure that was aired by both mainstream media, the company’s managing director disputed the claims but however acknowledged that his company had an issue processing title deeds like any other property selling company.
The company’s director, Kahungi Kirago, also hinted at filing petitions against media companies that conspired to taint his name and that of his company.
On the other hand, Karangu Muraya and Muigai wa Njoroge agreed to take responsibility and ensure that anyone who invested with the company as a result of their influence, they get value of their money.
