Kirinyaga middle aged man commits suicide after his mother died him money to procure prohibited bhang.
A middle aged man from Kagio, Kirinyaga County was found hanging from the roof of their rented house few moments after he had an altercation with his mother for denying him money to buy bhang.
The mother of the deceased found his son dangling from their house and rushed to Kiamaciri Police Station to report the matter.
Upon reporting the case, police officers from the station rushed to the scene and confirmed that one Peter Mwangi had committed suicide by hanging himself using a rope.
Area Police Commander, Mr Wilson Koskei, acknowledged the incident which had been reported by the deceased mother, Teresiah Wanjiru Kimani, on Tuesday at Kiamaciri Police Staton.
The mother of the deceased told Police Officers that he was not expecting his son to commit suicide after being denied money to buy drugs.
“I never thought he would commit suicide because of the money to buy bhang, a substance that I know is illegal in the country…but I was shocked to find him dead,” the deceased mother told the police.
Cases of suicide especially among young people in Kirinyaga County have been on the rise raising concerns on why young people are committing endless suicides.
