They say you never really know someone until you marry them, and that’s especially true in this shocking case. A 26-year-old Indonesian man, identified as ‘AK,’ found out that his ‘wife’ of 12 days was actually a man attempting to scam him and his family.
AK met Adinda Kanza, also 26, on social media in 2023. They dated for a year, during which AK was led to believe that Adinda was a devout Muslim, which explained why her face was always covered. Adinda also claimed to be an orphan, saying she had no family to attend their wedding.
The couple married, but suspicions quickly arose. The marriage was never consummated, with Adinda citing menstruation and using the classic excuse, “Not tonight darling, I’ve got a headache.” She also wore her niqab at all times, even at home with AK.
Driven by doubt, AK began investigating. His inquiries led him to meet Adinda’s supposedly deceased parents, who revealed that his wife was actually their son. Further investigation showed that ‘Adinda’ had been dressing as a woman since 2020 with the intention of defrauding AK and his family
According to AT media, Adinda was arrested and taken into police custody on fraud charges. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted, as well as an inevitable acrimonious divorce.
