Motion to impeach deputy president Rigathi Gachagua to be tabled in parliament in coming days. This is after a section of leaders from some quarters felt offended by the Deputy President utterances.
Bumula Mp, Jack Wanami Wamboka, who was speaking to the press confirmed that he will be tabling impeachment motion the National assembly following Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua utterances which he termed them as tribal.
“Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was in an event in Mt Kenya and he was telling people that the remaining positions in government, most of them will go to Kikuyus. That now, you will be seeing names of Muchiri, Kamau and Waweru for the remaining positions,”
The MP said that if you listened to Rigathi Gachagua speak, one might wonder whether he is the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya or the Deputy President of the Central Kenya nation.
“Rigathi Gachagua must know that respect is earned, how he is conducting himself is below par. He has become a tribal chauvinist. Every time that man opens his mouth, you wonder whether he is the deputy president of Kenya or the deputy president of the kikuyu republic,” the MP accused Rigathi Gachagua of being a tribal chauvinist,” Jack Wanami told Rigathi.
The MP also accused the Deputy President of bullying Nairobi Governor and criticizing him in public. DP Rigathi Gachagua had warned Nairobi County Governor, Johnson Sakaja, of interfering with Mt Kenya people businesses in Nairobi. Responding to him, the Bumula Mp, told Rigathi Gachagua to keep off from Nairobi County affairs.
“He is threatening everyone, left right and centre. You saw what he did with the good governor of Nairobi County, Johnson Sakaja… threatening him of how he rallied kikuyus behind his gurbenatorial race. Sakaja was not elected by Kikuyus, he was elected by Kenyans in Nairobi. We want to call out Hon Rigathi Gachagua and tell him that if he does respect himself as the deputy president of Kenya, we will not respect him. In fact, at some point I will bring a motion in parliament to discuss his conduct and impeach him because he is becoming an embarrassment to the republic,” Jack Wanami Wamboka noted.
A week ago, the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had claimed that the next government appointments will be reserved for Mt Kenya people by President William Ruto. In his statement, Rigathi Gachagua said while appointments are being read, only Kikuyu names will be appearing.
The statement raised a lot of concerns from Kenyans drawn from other parts of the country who accused the Deputy President of being a tribal leader.
