Nairobians were surprised to sex workers who transact their business along the busy Kenyatta Avenue fundraise for one of their own who had turned for the day with her cub.

Her colleagues who seemed touched by the situation raised Ksh 700 amongst themselves to buy food for the colleague and the kid.

Speaking to a local news outlet, the sex worker whose name was withheld said she had no option other than going trade her body with her kid because her house manager had left.

According to her, the house manager left without notice after she failed to clear two months’ salary. She said she was unable to pay her house manager since her business was not doing well.

“The house help left without notice after I failed to pay her for two months. I don’t have money and I need to feed my child and my other two children who are upcountry living with my mother,” She narrated.

She also explained that life had become unbearable and with increased cost of living, she had to show up with her baby for business so that she can get money to buy food for her baby and two others who are up country with their grandmother.

One of her colleagues who spoke to the news outlet said that a majority of them are considering to abandon the body hawking business and relocate to rural areas where they will engage other businesses.

She said that life had become unbearable and body trading could not sustain their life in the city and they are also of contracting diseases such as pneumonia.

“As other sectors are affected by low business, we are also hard hit. We will have to shift and go back upcountry to do farming. There’s totally no business here,” one of the colleagues told the publication.
